DESCRIPTION
Dmitri Shostakovich’s 3rd Symphony reflects the juvenile optimism of the Soviet decade of the 20s. Performed for the first time following the death of Lenin, it will be performed for the first time in Greece by the Athens Philarmonic Orchestra. Poetry at the end of the Symphony is written by Semyon Kirsanov.
The program includes Arthur Honegger’s “Summer Pastoral” and three small lyric songs for voice and orchestra by Maurice Ravel, Antonin Dvorak and Constantine Sfakianakis.
