SUMMARY:Fairy Tales in the Park: Sussurades
DESCRIPTION:This activity is only available in Greek. \n\nFairy tales in primo – secondo. A narrative performance of fairy tale duets. Duets that spread wings and fly\, that weave tales from threads of dreams\, lulling us into a sugary sleep on a pillow full of wonder. A red thread binds different places together\, weaving two voices that tell stories—sometimes together\, sometimes one after the other—that have been told\, dreamed\, and sung by the people of the world. Stories shared through conversation\, whispers\, songs\, and even gestures\, all coming to remind us that a deep wish to fly can move both heaven and earth.

SUMMARY:Fairy Tales in the Museum: Sassa Voulgari
DESCRIPTION:Fairy Tales in the Garden: Sasa Voulgari The Tears of the Earth: The Animals that Speak\, the Trees that Ache…\n\nTrees that hide fairies\, magical fruits\, humble ants\, ducks\, lions\, wolves\, storks\, and proud eagles that gratefully return the good deeds done to them\, people who transform into birds\, trees\, and stars… So much and more is hidden in the magic of old fairy tales! From the ends of the earth and from the depths of time\, old legends and cosmogonic myths reveal to us that all creatures of this earth were once siblings. Animals\, Plants\, and Humans\, we are inseparable parts of our vast world\, with our common destiny being the great Journey of Life with all its adventures and all its beauty. Besides\, “Kosmos” (World) in our beautiful language means ornament!\n\nSasa Voulgari\, a pioneer of neo-narration in Greece\, unravels her fairy tales “as if singing them\,” with vocal improvisations and melismas\, and accompanies them with her strange musical instruments from all over the world.\n\nThe narration lasts approximately 60 to 70 minutes. It is suitable for children from 5 to 115 years old!

It’s all about sprawling across the grass with your mates\, spontaneous dancing\, and the sound of kids’ laughter mixing with the music—all in all\, living and breathing the city a little differently for the day.\n\nWhat’s on the cards? Starting early in the morning\, the city’s top radio producers will be spinning the perfect tracks to keep the energy high. Little ones can dive into a world of imagination through creative workshops\, musical theatre\, and interactive games throughout the park. As the sun begins to set\, the mood gets even more magical with open-air screenings and that lovely “summer is coming” breeze.\n\nIt’s an experience that truly has it all: music\, art\, relaxation\, and the best company in town. So\, grab your mat\, pack your hamper\, put on your brightest smile\, and help us kick off the This is Athens City Festival 2026. After all\, spring in Athens is meant to be shared.

SUMMARY:The Gift That Remained Unopened!
DESCRIPTION:A secret parcel\, hidden among the centuries-old thickets of the National Garden\, awaits its first explorers. For the Athens City Festival 2026\, the B. & M. Theocharakis Foundation invites young citizens to an unconventional adventure blurring the lines between detective work and fine art. Armed with magnifying glasses and “scientific” gloves\, children will track the artistic footprints of the legendary Stephen Antonakos.\n\nDrawing inspiration from the artist’s iconic “Travel Collages” and “Packages”\, participants dive into the world of conceptual art through immersive role-playing and team missions. They will discover how a simple journey transforms into a collage and how a sealed package can contain entire universes\, eventually crafting their own original masterpieces using organic materials gathered directly from the Garden’s ecosystem.\n\nFor 50 years\, this mysterious “gift” has sat patiently in the heart of the city’s most iconic green space. By turning Antonakos’ legacy of sealed artworks into a living\, breathing mystery\, this event offers a rare\, hands-on exploration of the intersection between art and the environment.\n\nThis activity is only available in Greek.

SUMMARY:Theatre Battles in Ancient Athens
DESCRIPTION:The This is Athens City Festival invites explorers of all ages to an educational adventure that reimagines ancient Athens through the eyes of two real-life legends. Auteas and Philoxenides\, two “choregoi” (the visionary sponsors of the time) from Aexone\, today’s Glyfada\, are making a symbolic comeback 2\,300 years later to guide us through the thrilling world of theatrical competitions.\n\nWhat exactly was the role of a sponsor back then? How were the city’s massive festivals organised? And why was theatre so much more than just a night out? Taking its cue from a rare honorary decree from 313/2 BC housed in the Epigraphical Museum\, this session is specially designed for families with children aged 7 to 10. Through storytelling\, discovery\, and a hands-on creative workshop\, kids will dive into ancient drama and the city’s public life in a way that’s interactive\, fast-paced\, and fun. It’s a chance to pull the past into the present with imagination\, play\, and a real connection to Athens’ cultural soul.\n\n\nThis activity is only available in Greek.

SUMMARY:Children & the Bee
DESCRIPTION:In celebration of World Bee Day\, the National Garden bursts into life\, colour\, and youthful imagination with a special event dedicated to nature\, care\, and the power of small wonders. The area beside the children’s playground transforms into a dreamlike apiary landscape\, ready to welcome children and parents for an evening filled with warmth\, play\, and plenty of sweetness. Children can see and touch honeycombs with their own hands\, dress up as beekeepers in protective suits\, and learn about the bees’ home—the hive—as well as the smoker tool.\n\nThe star of the evening is Chrysanthi\, the brave little bee from the new children’s book by Lazaros Karaoulis\, CEO of the City of Athens IT and Municipal Operational Units agency\, titled “Chrysanthi: The Little Bee That Brought the Spring.” This tender story serves as a wonderful starting point for a conversation about nature\, the vital importance of bees\, and the immense impact even the smallest creature can have when acting with courage and love.\n\nMeeting Point: Beside the National Garden Children’s Playground.\n\nThis activity is only available in Greek.
