Exhibition of Yiannis Theodoropoulos: Ioannis in Wonderland
Gallery of the Municipality of Athens (Metaxourgio B Building)
Leonidou & Milerou, Athens
12 - 31 May 2022
The work of photographer Yiannis Theodoropoulos is presented in his exhibition “John in Wonderland: objects of experiential sculpture, Part 1”, which includes his works from 1999 onwards.
The artist himself spoke about the project saying: “All my works come from objects and spaces in my family home in Pefki, where I have lived for the last 52 years, and that is why I call what I do ‘experiential sculpture’.” As the photographer himself explains, the aim of his work is none other than to tell a personal story, which he hopes is about “a part of other people’s collective experience”.
As the artist himself notes about his work, Yiannis Theodoropoulos’ photographs constitute “meta-landscapes” that converse with both painting and sculpture.
