DESCRIPTION
Maria Farantouri is known globally as a brilliant singer and a key player in the movements of the 1970s who is beloved by a whole generation both inside and outside Greece. Her voice is recognizable throughout the world.
For this special performance, Farantouri interpret songs from the German theatre, through poetry by Bertolt Brecht and music by Kurt Weill, Hanns Eisler, Manos Hadjidakis and Thanos Mikroutsikos.
During the second part of the performance, she interprets songs from the American musical theatre by George Gershwin, Leonard Bernstein, Astor Piazzolla, as well as new songs by Nikos Kypourgos.
Farantouri will be accompanied by a group of three exceptional musicians including Achilleas Wastor (piano & orchestrations), Petros Klampanis (double bass) and David Lynch (brass).
