DESCRIPTION
The “Multaka: Intercultural Tours in Athens” project, a unique initiative aimed at promoting intercultural dialogue, has started and invites residents and visitors of the city to participate in experiential tours carried out by refugees, immigrants, as well as Greeks with immigrant or refugee background, in museums and archaeological sites in Athens.
“Multaka” means meeting point in Arabic. As its name suggests, the project, implemented by the Athens Development and Destination Management Agency of Athens, was designed by the Ministry of Migration and Asylum, the Ministry of Culture and Sports, and the Municipality of Athens. It brings immigrants and refugees in contact with the history and culture of Greece, while they themselves share aspects of their own culture, providing the opportunity for the identification of common references and values and for the development of a fruitful intercultural dialogue.
In the context of Athens City Festival, Multaka participates with the following intercultural tour programs. The tours are free for the public, and reservation is required at multaka@developathens.gr
