DESCRIPTION
Housed in two of the city’s oldest buildings that stand majestic to this day, bringing to mind images of another Athens, so far away and so close at the very same moment, the Museum of the City of Athens hosts important evidence of Greece’s modern history.
This magnificent pair of mansions, referred to as the “Old Palace”, houses an excellent museum where visitors have the opportunity to experience a part of the evolution of Athenian urban society in later years.
Take a tour of the building that once housed the first residence of the royal couple of Greece, Otto and Amalia, to get a whiff of the daily life of a different era, before visiting the second building that is considered a unique example of Athens’ 19th century bourgeois architecture.
