EVENT
Waste (Inheritance) Jennifer Nelson
VENUE
National Museum of Contemporary Art
Kallirrois & Amvrosiou Frantzi, Athens
DATE
02 - 31 May 2022
DESCRIPTION
For a year, Jennifer Nelson collected the packaging and material waste of her family. The volume and mass of accumulated material far exceeds the size and weight of the artist’s body. For the next 6 months, Nelson will create sculptural shapes with this scrap material that she can wear on her body and carry with her, literally carrying the burden of her lifestyle.
Instead of disposing of garbage, as we usually do as a society, Waste (Inheritance) is a process open to museum visitors. The public is welcome to the temporary workshop located inside the Project Room to witness the creative process, examine and use these materials creatively, or simply to sit down and discuss them. The project will also host a small reading room with articles and books tracing the origins and impact of the use of a wide range of materials.
Tickets: 4€ – 8€
