The Goethe-Institut Athen presents the exhibition Ecological Translation, a bold exploration of our relationship with the natural world.
What if technology allowed us to speak directly with animals and plants?
Drawing on emerging legal frameworks that recognise rights for rivers and ecosystems, the exhibition examines the use of artificial intelligence and remote sensing as a potential “Google Translate” between humans and the environment. Through the work of an international group of artist visitors are invited to reflect on whether we can truly translate the radical otherness of beings such as bats or whales. The exhibition, which opened on 28 April, forms part of a broader interdisciplinary symposium that seeks to highlight both the opportunities and the risks of new scientific approaches reminding us that the complexity of the climate crisis demands a new, shared language of communication with the planet.
