Athens History Walks: The Makrygianni Battle

This activity is only available in the Greek language.
This historical walk explores one of the most important battles of the Dekemvriana, the urban warfare that took place in Athens at the end of World War II and which announced the start of the Greek Civil War. At the barracks of the Makrygiannis Gendarmerie Regiment, we will learn about the methods used by ELAS, as well as the desperate defense of the gendarmerie, the intervention of the British forces, and the counter-movements on other fronts of the battle.
After the end of the walk, we will visit the Zappeion Gardens to view rare photographs from the battles.
