A few words about George Panagiotopoulos
He was born in Athens. At the age of seven, he began his violin studies at the Athens Conservatoire with professor Sophocles Politis, from whose class he graduated in January 1996. He continued with his postgraduate studies in Madrid, at the Escuela Superior de Musica “Reina Sofia” with faculty scholarship, in the class of the internationally renowned professor Zackar Bron.
From 1997 to 2000, with a scholarship from the State Scholarship Foundation (I.K.Y.), he completed his musical studies in Paris, at the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris, with Professor Devy Erlih, obtaining the Higher Soloist Diploma Violin (Diplôme Supérieur de
Concertiste de Violon), in March 2000. He also received the First Prize of the City of Paris (Premier Prix de la Ville de Paris) under the guidance of Professor Christophe Boulier. He was a member of the Mediterranean Youth Orchestra and the World Youth Orchestra as well as the Piraeus Symphony Orchestra and the Athens Municipality Symphony Orchestra.
He has collaborated as a soloist with various Orchestras and has given recitals in several cities in Greece and abroad. Today he is the principal of the National Symphony Orchestra of the E.R.T., member of Kamerata/Armonia Atenea and member of Quinteto Tangarto specializing in the music of Astor Piazzolla.
Apart from his performance career, he teaches at the Music Conservatoire of Athens College and since July 2013, he has been teaching at the “Académie des Jeunes Solistes” music course in France.
He plays on a violin built in 1710 by David Tecchler in Rome.
